Last Thursday, Converse hosted a party celebrating the grand opening of its first retail store in New York City’s Soho neighborhood with special DJ-sets by Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes and Q-Tip; and a live musical performance by Matt and Kim. Guests of honor included stars of the Converse Join The Procession ad campaign basketball legend Julius “Dr. J” Erving and Jim Jones. The store is massive, it’s a single floor retail space spanning 7000 square feet. Love Converse shoes!!!
The new Soho store is located at 560 Broadway and offers the largest offering of Converse footwear in the world, showcasing the breadth of the brand’s collections including Chuck Taylor All Star, Jack Purcell, Star Chevron, One Star and Converse by John Varvatos, as well as other premium footwear collaborations and a new line of men’s and women’s apparel and accessories. I love that the store offers unique product customization capabilities for shoes, t-shirts and bags, along with graphics and colors. Def need to customize some stuff soon. And how amazing is the wall of Converses shoes? Check out the event recap after the jump…
